I have read the Tao Te Ching so many times, but every time I read it, there is aways this flash of insight. A reminder – like a mentor slowly nudging me to the path.
This morning, it was this passage that got to me:
It is unnatural to walk on tiptoe,
Tao Te Ching pg. 24
Try to elevate yourself above others,
and you will soon fall.
Those who display themselves do not shine;
those who inflate themselves do not grow;
those who assert themselves do not gain merit.
After reading this, I went to look for other similar takes on Humility, and found this on page 7:
The wise humble themselves –
Tao Te Ching pg. 7
and because of their humility,
they are worth of praise.
They put others first,
and so become great.
They are not focused on outcomes and achievements;
therefore they always succeed.
I am super inspired by today’s reading. I feel like I needed this reminder.
Now, I need to hit the gym and bop to Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE.
